I recently did a juice cleanse in which you drink one gallon of juice per day for a two day period. The two gallons of juice were both the same citrus flavor--a mix of water, orange juice, grapefruit juice, & lemon juice. Each gallon was 38% juice and mostly water. I found that I was eating really badly over the past few weeks and needed a reset to rejuvenate to eat clean again. While doing the juice cleanse you are not allowed to eat, drink alcohol, or drink any caffeinated beverages over a 48 hour period. You are allowed to drink water in addition to each gallon of juice you are supposed to drink each day, but I found that to be a bit excessive to be honest. I did my juice cleanse through a local juicery in town; however, i'm sure you can find a program online or through a juicery near you. I felt like a whole new person coming off of the juice cleanse--where I felt like a million bucks because I felt refreshed and rejuvenated. I lost about 7 lbs--a couple of pounds of which will come back once I start eating again. But luckily, I haven't seen any of the weight come back since I've been eating really clean. I went to my local farmers market and picked up lots of fresh produce. I've concentrated on not eating processed foods or anything that's high in sugar fattening/rich foods in addition to staying away from fried food. The key to doing a juice cleanse is to eat extremely clean and healthy after it to reap the full benefits after flushing out anything that was bad in your system.
